What We Believe
About God - God is real, sovereign, eternal, omnipotent, omniscient, and omnipresent. God is revealed in the scriptures in the masculine gender, however, the Bible teaches that God is Spirit. He has feelings, therefore He can be pleased, grieved, and even angry; however, His feelings are constant rather than reactionary. God is love, but the Bible reveals that He also expresses Himself in wrath and vengence against ungodliness.
God is revealed in three persons: The Father, The Son, and The Holy Spirit. This is called the Trinity. While the word, “trinity,” is not in the Bible, the concept most clearly is. Eventhough He reveals Himself as God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit, there is only one God. A comparison might be that a local church is made up of many members, but it is only one church.
About Jesus - Jesus came to this world as the Only Begotten Son of God, lived 33 years as the perfect man, who never one time committed any sin. Being sinless, He was qualified to fulfill the Old Testament picture of the sacrificial lamb. He died on the Cross of Calvary in fulfillment of God’s promise, as the One who was the atonement, or the covering, for the sins that we have committed. He was buried in a borrowed tomb and on the third day, according to the scriptures, He rose from the dead and is alive evermore. There is no other way to be saved from the penalty of sin, except by believing on Him.
About mankind - Every person, upon reaching the age of accountability, is lost in his sins and needs to be saved. He is completely without ability to save himself and has only one way of being saved, to turn to Christ in faith.
About people in other churches - People are not saved because of which church they attend, but by believing on Christ; therefore, we believe that people of any church group who trust Christ alone for their salvation are our brothers and sisters in Christ.
