Look Who Is Not Singing

It is interesting to look at a congregation during congregational singing.  Almost all the women will be singing, but you can always spot some men who have their mouths tightly clamped, and in many cases, their facial expressions and body language will say that they are totally tuned out.  Look at the choir in most churches, and you will see that the women singers outnumber the men almost three to one.

Maybe some men don’t sing because they don’t feel that they could do a good job of it.  Yet, it has been proven, time and again, when training for singing is offered very few men show up.  Could it be that many men do not sing because, whether they realize it or not, the devil hates it when men sing, and he fights against it?  God gave men the responsibility to lead their families in spiritual things and singing praise to God is very much a spiritual thing.

We should sing, not because we can sing, but because we have a song to sing.
