The Mind of Christ

I’ve heard people say, “You never know what God will do.”  This is not true, you can know, because He has told us in the Bible what He will do.  It is also true that we think like Him, because as we saturate our mind with His word, our thinking will take a much more godly direction.

We will not fully attain the mind of Christ until that moment, in that twinkling of an eye, when God changes us to be all that He ever intended us to be from the foundation of the world.

The Necessity of Planning

One might mistakingly think that when the Bible says, “Take no thought for tomorrow,” that all need for future planning is ruled out.  The Bible teaching is that we are not to worry about tomorrow, but to plan and prepare is another matter.  The ant gathers her food in the summer, in preparation for winter, according to Proverbs 6.  As a matter of fact, all of nature teaches this lesson.

We generally go in the direction we aim ourselves.  It has been said, “If you aim at nothing, you will probably hit it.”  Where would you like to go with your life?

Ears to Hear

Eight times, Jesus said, “He who has ears to hear, let him hear…”  This refers to a spiritual perception, and a desire to hear and do the will of God.

Have you ever tried to talk to somebody about something, and they were obviously not interested in what you had to say?  Their ears were just not tuned into your frequency!

How does a person get these ears to hear spiritual things?  The Bible word for it is fasting.  There is something about intentionally making your flesh hungry that connects to the Spirit.

Do you have ears to hear?

Vision

Physical vision is a wonderful thing.  For many years, I had such good vision, it was almost a bragging point.  One day, at about age 45, I suddenly couldn’t hold things far enough away to see them clearly.  Now, when I want to read something, I reach for glasses, if I’m not already wearing contacts.

There is another kind of vision that God gives, and that is an inspired dream of what ought to be and how it can be.  I believe that God will give that vision to any of His people, but I have observed that He especially gives it to pastors.  There have been many times, over the course of my years in ministry, that an idea has come to me, and idea that I soon saw was more than just idea, it was a vision.

The vision that God gives is always good for His people and His kingdom’s work.  One church with which I am familiar, had a pastor who led them to relocate the church to another property.  A number of the people rose up in protest, at first.  Most of them soon saw the wisdom in it, but some became angry and left the church.  Nevertheless, they relocated, and today they all see with perfect 20/20 hind-sight, that it was the best thing that could have happened for them.  Most churches can look at where they are, and they can thank the people from the past who had vision.

The Miracle of Growth

There is a product called, “Miracle Grow.”  While I’m not much in the area of gardening, I think it’s good stuff, at least, I hear people say it is.   But, I think the way everything grows is somewhat of a miracle.  It seems that God has a miracle in seeds.  Seeds are small things, but produce great results.  Everything works on the principle of seed-time and harvest.  And the growth is pretty miraculous.  I hope to plant some good really good seeds today in God’s kingdom.
